Autajon Boston: Located in the greater Nashua, NH area Autajon Packaging Boston is a full-service packaging provider offering traditional folding cartons and a variety of other innovative styles. Some of our well-known customers are Lindt, Hersey, Godiva, and Ferrero Rocher. We currently employ 100 regular full-time employees year-round and roughly 80 seasonal employees. The Nashua facility is located 30 minutes outside Boston, an hour from the ocean and one and half hours from the mountains making it a great place for the outdoors person to live or to raise a family.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
POSITION:Supervisor, Production Methods
DEPARTMENT:Production-Methods
REPORTS TO:Sr. Operations Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
The role of the Supervisor is to manage all aspects or production preparation, including ordering tooling for stamping, embossing, and die cutting. This position is responsible for job bag preparation and production optimization. The supervisor will help and participate with the Sr. Operations Manager on any innovation topics. Responsible for the daily supervision of the department employees including effective performance and time management.
PRINCIPAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide Operations with clear and reliable production specifications derived from customer requirements.
- Provide technical support to the Operations and Sales teams as needed.
- Ensure that the job bags are complete, with accurate and reliable instructions and seeking endorsement from the production managers needed.
- Endeavor to optimize production cost at job and plant level; provide production estimation in support of optimization scenario
- Provide monthly reports to Executive Management on Method workload (job bag, tooling costs, etc.)
- Ensure accuracy of production specifications and integrity of the specification database through continuous maintenance and incorporation of operations feedback.
- Analyze customer briefs, requirements and specifications for new items, new projects, or item evolution in order to identify production challenges from capability, capacity, and quality standpoints.
- Organize, participate in, and capture minutes of New Business meetings and Technical meetings with appropriate participants as required
- Meet with customer technical interface on-site or off-site to review current business requiring technical support.
- Provide on-going technical support to help resolve process, quality or equipment issues; investigate complex production problems; analyze and recommend solutions.
- Monitor and evaluate the activities of the department employees and provide coaching, motivation, guidance, and training to help assure their success.
- Organize department work and delegate to department members as appropriate.
- Participate in interviewing process for open positions
- Responsible for effective and timely performance management functions.
- Support management decisions and communicate as appropriate to staff.
- Contributes to team effort by helping other department members as needed.
- Contribute to the APBos drive for continuous improvement through creative ideas/solutions to existing quality and operational challenges.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must learn and comply with all AP Boston safety rules; must use appropriate safety equipment at all times; must immediately report all unsafe condition to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features or equipment, machinery, or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisor if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Engineering or Scientific College degree required
- 3+ years of folding carton experience in a leadership role
- Ability to understand complex technical customer requirements
- Ability to multi task in a fast paced, often stressful team environment
- Excellent computer skills including with emphasis on use or ERP, CAD, and Estimation software.
- Excellent multi-lingual (English/French) communications skills, both written and verbal preferred
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Must be able to comprehend and follow all job procedures and safety protocols
