Autajon Boston: Located in the greater Nashua, NH area Autajon Packaging Boston is a full-service packaging provider offering traditional folding cartons and a variety of other innovative styles. Some of our well-known customers are Lindt, Hersey, Godiva, and Ferrero Rocher. We currently employ 100 regular full-time employees year-round and roughly 80 seasonal employees. The Nashua facility is located 30 minutes outside Boston, an hour from the ocean and one and half hours from the mountains making it a great place for the outdoors person to live or to raise a family.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Forming Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the Forming Department (Thermoform – SKA and Rigid ) ensuring that all department employees uphold APBo's standards of safety, quality production, and efficiency. Actively manage the operational performance of the department, which will require daily production meetings with the Operations Manager and the scheduler to ensure an optimal level. The Forming Supervisor is responsible for maintaining accuracy regarding APBo's ERP and the customer's requirements. Complete raw material inventory reports and identify areas of both need and excess within their department's processes in order to maximize cost efficiency. Consistently and efficiently perform and follow procedures in compliance to company, customer, and ISO standards.

The Forming Supervisor will measure, monitor, and report the effectiveness of the forming activities and employee's performance to identify opportunities for improvement or advancement, track employee hours, coordinate with HR throughout the interview process for any open positions within the Forming department, and ensure the completion of performance evaluations for all department personnel.

  • Supervise and support department personnel, including Forming Team Leads, Forming Operators, Forming coordinators and material handlers.
  • Identify needs to create or eliminate positions in sync with anticipated activity and and capabilities.
  • Execute HR duties including screening and interviewing candidates for vacant roles, conducting performance reviews promptly, and ensuring compliance with company policies and protocols.
  • Coordinate workload distribution and assign tasks to employees to effectively fulfill departmental objectives; monitor employee hours, unanticipated absences, vacation schedules, and similar matters.
  • Conduct departments meetings regularly to provide feedback to employees on their performance (behavior, quality, safety, and productivity).
  • Keep a close eye on production activities and data input through all available means, including ERP system reports, to maintain the departmental production schedule within or above the expected timeframe.
  • Proactively oversee departmental operational performance, focusing on productivity, quality, and environmental impact, to align with company standards.
  • Attend daily/weekly production meetings with the Operations Manager to discuss plant activities, staffing and schedule.
  • Engage in Lean Manufacturing initiatives aimed at enhancing departmental efficiency. Create and maintain department specific work instructions.
  • Conduct a root cause analysis on all quality defects from the department. Create action plans and follow up on results.
  • Manage inventory of all Raw Materials, tooling, plastic bags, corrugated and WIP in the department.
  • Assist in developing new product lines.
  • Continuously identify costs savings through purchasing or process improvement.
  • Identify and propose machine, tooling and material investments, in anticipation of future needs.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement maintenance programs (repair, & preventative) for the department machines, also assisting with troubleshooting equipment and material problems as necessary.
  • Carry out R&D projects and communicate results.
  • Complete all appropriate reports relating to safety incidents.
  • Support management decisions and communicate the philosophy behind decisions to staff. Consistently demonstrate a positive attitude.
  • Assess current systems and processes, initiative modifications, and enhancements, and provide recommendations to senor management including proposals for investments.
  • Perform other tasks/duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.



JOB REQUIREMENTS

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Printing Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role within the packaging industry with a focus on the manufacturing process.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and engage a diverse team.
  • Proficient level of English – Verbal & Written.
  • Ability to speak and understand Spanish is required.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to understand complex technical customer requirements.
  • Proficient Math Skills.
  • Excellent organizational & analytical skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow all job procedures and safety protocols.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as needed to meet production deadlines.
